Your hosts are Rob & Sam McMurtrie who left the JHB rat race behind to live in the country. The farm was a dream that had been brewing for many years and the step was finally taken to "live the dream" in 2006.

Many areas in South Africa were considered and after much deliberation and planning, the Eastern Highlands were chosen as the area of choice.

The Scottish feel fits in well with our heritage and background, while the rolling hills, early morning mist and natural beauty of the place had an instant pull.

Nice dams and very good fly fishing just add to the allure of the farm and the area in general. Highland Springs Country Estate was thus born in July of 2006. The estate name comes from the number of natural springs that are on the farm, forming wonderful wetland areas.

 Much work has gone into developing an estate that retains a Highland farm feel with many more exciting developments happening in the future. A new reception area, convenience store, restaurant, pub, proposed stables, farm yard, small chapel and other facilities are currently being planned or are already under construction.

 The farm has 25 exclusive sites available offering people an opportunity to live in a safe, comfortable environment or to own an exclusive holiday home in the country. An option exists to own a guest house, conference facility or both with business rights. See our development section for further information or give us a call to discuss your requirements.
